Socratic Seminar question

Last Wednesday during our final Socratic seminar for Out of The Silent Planet, someone asked if it is possible for a whole society to be purely good as a whole. The first question that comes to my mind is, isn't everyone's definition of good different? One person might think that raising money for charities is the right thing while another person can believe that robbing others is creating good in the world. It depends what mental state your in, how you were brought up, and what you believe in. There are no set of principles or rules that cam make or influence every single person in a society to act and think the same way.
