Existence over Essence

    

In The Stranger, Mersault lives a very existentialist life. He goes through every day doing the same
things over and over but is still enjoyed with it. Many people would find this very repetitive but Mersault is kind of living "unconsciously". The one moment when Mersault gained existence over essence was when he decided to shoot. He had never done anything like this before. At that moment we found out who he really is and his true identity.
